Parking

Parking is on your own for the event. There are plenty of lots and garages within a few blocks. Please remember that 300 South will be closed in front of Squatters. Please plan accordingly so you have time to park, pick up your packet if you haven’t already, and be ready to start the race on time at 9:30am!

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be from 11am-4pm at Squatters (147 W 300 South) Friday 9/20 and race day (9/21) at Squatters from 7:30am-9am. You will receive your race bag, T-shirt, and bib number, and timing chip along with your Squatters glass. Once we give you the glass, it’s all yours. This means no butter finger insurance! You don't need to bring your glass with you on race day. We strongly encourage you to pick up your packet on Friday!

If you have a conflict, you can have a friend or family member pick up your packet for you.  To do so, please forward your confirmation email to your designated friend or family member.  In the text of your forwarded email be sure to state that you are providing your authorization for this person to pick-up your packet.  Your designated person will need to print out, or show on their phone, the forwarded e-mail at packet pick-up to obtain your race materials.

Chip Timing - Awards Determined by Gun Time

All runners will be provided a timing chip. Your timing chip will be attached to bib. You will be timed according to your chip or net time.

The bib chip cannot be folded, pinned or bent in any way for it to record your time correctly. We cannot guarantee an accurate time if your bib chip is damaged in any way.

Safety

There are multiple aspects of safety to be aware of for the Chasing Tail Run. Watch the weather on the day of the race. If it is 85 degrees, do not wear your winter coat to run in. Drink plenty of water. Don’t hesitate to stop at aid stations on the course.

The course is on pavement and traffic will be controlled by Salt Lake City Police, but please we aware of what is under your feet, ahead of you and around as you run.

BOOZE. Please be smart about drinking. We want everyone to have fun and we are not here to be anybody’s parents. We completely understand that this event is centered around an awesome brewery with awesome beer and we hope everyone enjoys a few. Please do not take any alcohol with you on course We will take it away if we see it. We highly recommend not drinking before you run. Save yourself until the finish, then you can indulge.

Route – 1 Hour, 10 minute Limit on Course

The 4-mile and 1.5 mile distances will both start at Squatters. The 1.5 mile Doggie Dash will start approximately 15 minutes after the 4 mile race.

Remember to know the course! As a reminder, here are the courses for the 4 Mile and the 1.5 Mile Doggie Dash. The course will be marked with these arrows. Follow them!

Finish Area and Party

Both courses join up on State St in the shadow of the Capitol. We all finish on 300 South in front of Squatters. If you don’t feel great, medical staff will be on hand to help you. There will be plenty of water when you finish.

Did we mention there’s beer? Like, a lot of it. You will need your ID.  Afterwards, enjoy the company of your new friends, have another beer, jam out to some music and get ready for the Stein Holding Contest!
